Celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride and Joy: Insights from DXC Technology's Corporate Event

At DXC Technology, diversity and inclusion are more than just buzzwords; they're at the core of their values. On June 7, 2024, DXC Technology hosted a remarkable corporate event dedicated to honoring LGBTQ+ Pride and joy. This special gathering, held during the day, provided employees from across the globe with a platform to share personal stories, celebrate identities, and amplify the message of equality.

The event was an opportunity to showcase the rich tapestry of experiences within our LGBTQ+ community. As a panelist representing DXC Technology’s UK arm and also serving as the Co-Executive Director for Equality Amplified, I had the privilege of participating alongside esteemed colleagues from various corners of our organisation. Together, we embarked on an emotional journey, sharing personal anecdotes of Pride and Joy in our LGBTQ+ life journeys.

The heart of the event lay in these personal narratives. From the challenges faced to the triumphs celebrated, each story illuminated the diverse and vibrant spectrum of LGBTQ+ experiences. As individuals shared their journeys of self-discovery, acceptance, and empowerment, the room was filled with empathy, understanding, and a profound sense of solidarity.

In addition to celebrating our individual journeys, the event also provided a platform to introduce Equality Amplified—a vital initiative dedicated to promoting LGBTQ+ rights and fostering inclusivity within DXC Technology and beyond.

Throughout the event, the message of "Together with Pride" resonated deeply. It was a reminder that by standing together, embracing our differences, and celebrating our shared humanity, we can create a more inclusive world for all.

I was asked to share my own personal example of LGBTQ+ Pride and Joy in my life

Some of the most unforgettable moments of LGBTQ+ Pride & Joy in my life often come from big events, and for me, Pride stands out as one of those occasions. Let's take this year's Birmingham Pride, held in the UK in May, for example.

Despite all the chaos in the world—political dramas, cultural clashes, and fights over trans rights—Pride still manages to create this amazing sense of unity and resilience. This year, with everything going on, it felt even more powerful.

One of the highlights for me was marching with a group I co founded many years ago called “Out and About”alongside thousands of people from all walks of life, everyone celebrating who they truly are. It was such a powerful reminder of our community's strength and solidarity. The streets were alive with colors, music, and people cheering us on—it was really heartwarming.

In tough times like these, finding joy becomes an act of defiance. Events like Pride give us a chance to feel that joy despite all the challenges.

Events like Pride and the work we're doing with Equality Amplified remind me that we're not alone. Together, we can celebrate our identities, support each other, and keep fighting for equality. It's moments like these that make me proud and bring me joy.

As we continue to navigate the complexities of diversity and inclusion, events like these serve as poignant reminders of the importance of storytelling, empathy, and allyship. By amplifying our voices, sharing our stories, and supporting one another, we can drive meaningful change and build a future where every individual can live authentically and proudly.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to DXC Technology for hosting this event and providing a platform for dialogue and celebration. I also want to thank my colleagues for their courage, vulnerability, and unwavering commitment to creating a more inclusive world.

As Pride Month unfolds, let us carry the spirit of Pride and Joy forward, both within our organisation and in our communities. Together, we can pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for all LGBTQ+ individuals.
